Organization Leadership We always have a need for people who can help with our administrative tasks. We currently
have a need for a Public Relations person who can work with newsmedia
and others to insure that our program is well known to prospective users. We would
welcome someone who would like to take on this task. Return to Volunteer Opportunity List Class Instructors Our classroom instructors have varied backgrounds. Some have worked with computers for several years and enjoy sharing their knowledge with our students. Others started as students who were very interested and found that they liked working with computers. They have often served as classroom assistants for a while and then started teaching themselves. These teachers understand how a new student feels when they are first starting to use computers. We constantly need new instructors. We have increased the number of classes offered in each session. In addition, after several years of teaching, our teachers move on to other things. Specific classes (see "Our Classes" page for a detailed description of each class) needing instructors are: Basic telecommunications. We have expanded the number of classes and we need additional instructors. A Power Point lesson plan is available and training classes will be provided for new instructors. Many have said that they really get a better understanding of the subject material when they try to explain it to another person. This is not only a great volunteer opportunity, but it is also a fantastic way to learn the subject material. Return to Volunteer Opportunity List Equipment/Facilities Support Do you like to work with computer equipment or would you like to learn to maintain your own computer equipment? We continually need help keeping our classroom computers current with software upgrades, recovering from computer problems (such as failure to operate correctly). We will share the tricks we have learned in doing routine maintenance and installing new equipment. We have a Local Area Network in our classroom. We need an experienced person with networking skills. We also can use help from persons who, along with our current facilities maintenance personnel, are willing to learn how to operate and maintain a network . Return to Volunteer Opportunity List |
